			GTKWave BETA FOR LINUX/UNIX

		   ** PLEASE READ THIS FILE CAREFULLY **
		   ** GTKWave IS BETA SOFTWARE **

This is an early beta release of WAVE based on the GTK+ toolkit. It is
intended for users who are familiar with the original (XView-based)
WAVE. This version implements most of the features found in the
original WAVE.

GTKWave has been tested on the following platforms:

  Linux with glibc2 (specifically RedHat 6.2 & 7.1)
  MS Windows (9x/ME/NT/2000)

See README-WINDOWS.TXT if you wish to use GTKWave under any version of
MS-Windows.

Requirements:

  Before installing GTKWave for Linux or Unix, download and install any
  of the following components that you do not have installed already:
   * libwww (http://www.w3.org/Library/, or
	     http://www.physionet.org/physiotools/libwww/)
     This library is optional, but highly recommended; it is necessary
     for reading remote files. Install libwww first if you will be using it.
   * WFDB Software Package (http://www.physionet.org/physiotools/wfdb.shtml)
     GTKWave uses both the WFDB library and (in its Analysis menu) many of
     the WFDB applications.
   * GTK+, version 1.2 or later (http://www.gtk.org/)
   * gnomelibs (http://www.gnome.org/)
     GTKWave for Unix uses the Zvt terminal widget from gnomelibs for the
     Analysis Commands window.
  All of these components are free (open source) software. Most Linux
  installations include libwww, GTK+, and gnomelibs, so you may not need to
  install these packages individually.
